The Republic of Cameroon is a culturally and geologically diverse country in the central and western part of Africa. The government of Cameroon has recently focused their efforts on increasing tourism to the country by marketing the area as “Africa in miniature” because of the diversity of the country’s landscape. Cameroon features beautiful sandy beaches along their Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Guinea coastlines, as well as the rainforest’s, and Savannas that most people expect to see in Africa. Tourists visiting Cameroon may also travel to areas of deserts and mountain ranges, with the highest elevation in the country being Mount Cameroon in the southwestern part of the country. Cameroon’s southern neighbors bordering the country are Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Republic of Congo. To the west is Nigeria. The eastern border is shared with the Central African Republic, and their northeastern border is shared with the country of Chad. The people of Cameroon have a very diverse cultural and linguistic history with over 200 languages being spoken among the various groups throughout the country, but English and French are the official languages of the country.
